Steps
- 1
1. Preheat a 12-inch heavy skillet (avoid nonstick) over medium-high heat for about 2 minutes. While waiting, use paper towels to dry the steaks thoroughly. Season the steaks evenly with pepper and a total of 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
- 2
Heat up a skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of oil, swirling it around to coat the bottom. Sear the steaks in the hot skillet, flipping them over only once, for a total of 5 to 8 minutes until they reach a medium-rare doneness. Once done, transfer the steaks to a serving platter while keeping them warm by covering them with foil. Be sure to reserve any remaining fat in the skillet for further use.
- 3
As the steaks are being sautéed, heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil in a 10-inch heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the garlic and almonds until they turn golden, which should take around 1 to 2 minutes. Then, introduce the pepper stir-fry mix along with cinnamon, cloves, and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of salt into the skillet. Stir and cook the vegetables for about 4 minutes until they are well-sauteed.
